Late this summer, our The CloudWinds Trio performed for an outdoor wedding just north of St Cloud, MN. The setting was beautiful. It took place in the yard, underneath large pine trees at a residence along the Mississippi River.
Using our usual instrumentation of flute, clarinet, and bassoon, we played relaxing pieces by composers Kummer and Bozza as prelude music. For the wedding ceremony, we played an arrangement that I made of the Lana Del Ray version of “Once Upon a Dream.” Right after the ceremony, we played a variety of pieces with me switching from bassoon to tenor saxophone.
Later that evening, Al joined the Jazz band from Minneapolis on tenor saxophone. Tom and I sat in for one piece each with Tom on clarinet and me on alto saxophone.
We had a great deal of fun and look forward to playing for more weddings!
Best,
Richard Chandler
