Whistle Tune

Composer's Notes

Whistle Tune is fun piece to learn, perform and present to audiences.  With its catchy melodies and contrasts, Whistle Tune hopes to delight musicians and audience of f all ages.

Decades in the Making

The story behind Whistle Tune dates back decades. Chandler came up with the primary theme for this composition many years ago but had not set it to music until more  recently.

A Challenge Accepted

Tom Gaetz, the clarinet and bass clarinet player in the woodwind trio I founded in 2016 commented about the frequent meter changes in my compositions.

Tom said that he thought I was incapable of writing a piece that would stay in just one time signature, without changing, throughout the whole piece.

I took this challenge to heart, by writing Whistle Tune in 4/4 time all the way through.

Are You Happy Now, Tom?

As a playful nod to the challenge given by Tom, the subtitle for Whistle Tune is "Are You Happy Now, Tom?"
